OBITUARY
Harvey Lewis Wilson Jr., 72 of Red Bank, NJ peacefully departed this life on May 16, 2020.
Harvey affectionately called "Spokie" and "Poppa Benny" by his family, was born on October 30, 1947 in Mecklenburg, VA to the late Harvey Sr., and Cleopatra Wilson.
Harvey lived and grew up in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, where he attended and graduated from the Middletown North High School, Middletown, NJ. Harvey received many accolades in his town's local newspaper for being one of the star football players on his high school's football team. He kept a whole scrapbook, full of the articles he was featured in.
Harvey was also a revered bass player. He played in various local bands. His last, and most successful band he played with was named "To Be Continued". In 1975, they were featured on the "Collage 75" compilation album released by Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ.
On March 27, 1976, Harvey married Linda Dorothy Colbert-Wilson. They lived in Long Branch, NJ, and was married for 34 years until Linda's untimely death in 2010. This union was blessed with 4 children.
Harvey worked as a Mechanic for Arrow Woven Company, Marlboro, NJ, over 16 years. He also had his own landscaping business maintaining the grounds of several homes in Rumson, NJ.
As a child, Harvey was a member of the St Paul's Baptist Church in Atlantic Highlands, NJ where Rev. Henry Davis is pastor. Harvey received Jesus Christ as his Savior in the mid to late 90's and then joined Faith Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Overseer Porter Brown. Harvey truly loved the Lord, and talked about Him to all he came in contact with.
Harvey was predeceased by his wife, Linda Dorothy Wilson, his son Ramon Colbert, his granddaughter Aaliyah Wilson, His sisters Shirley Davis, Lorna Wilson, and his only brother Garland Wilson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Panetha Wilson, Red Bank, NJ, Aaron and wife Arkasha Wilson, Roselle, NJ, Santeresa Wilson, Newark, NJ. 6 grandsons: Marquise Wilson, Ahron Wilson, Christopher Johnson, Mustafa Meyers Jr, Elijah Wilson, Jermaine Hart, and Granddaughter Anaiah Wilson. His sisters Christine Washington, Nan Kelsey, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
